Give, Act, Pray!
GIVE: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) has sent more than $500,000 to Haiti to be distributed for 15 food and water distribution sites, 20,000 tents for homeless, an electrical generator and supplies at Holy Cross Hospital, and staff working with ecumenical and local partners providing other needed services and supplies. Ground work for community psycho-social recovery has also been done.
“In addition to providing immediate relief, we will continue to assess long-range recovery needs and develop a comprehensive plan to help the Haitian people rebuild their lives over the next several years,” says PDA Coordination Randy Ackley.
So many people are wanting to help; however, partners are urging restraint in sending teams in at this time, since they may strain the few resources available. A time will come when teams will be welcomed and valuable in the long-term recovery. If interested in volunteering, register online.
